EAT TO LIVE. Don’t LIVE TO EAT.

In a remote military outpost in the 19th century, Captain John Boyd and his regiment embark on a rescue mission that takes a dark turn when they are ambushed by a sadistic cannibal.

Perhaps it is no surprise that RAVENOUS did not take the box office by storm back in 1999. Studio interference drove away not one but TWO different directors in the midst of production, until along came Antonia Bird. Somehow amid this chaos, she managed to not only skillful blend the multiple genres at play, but she also imbued it with a truly unique sensibility. And like many films of its ilk, has only been truly recognized as a rare gem many years later. RAVENOUS is truly a meaty stew of genres: western, horror, and darkly satirical comedy.
